Garage Door Repair

Springs, cables, rollers and track, on any door, whatever its age or condition.

Sounds and symptoms worth a phone call

A loud bang from the garage is often a torsion spring letting go. Other signs are just as clear: the door rises a foot and stops, a cable hangs loose off its drum, the door sits crooked in the opening, or a roller keeps popping out of the track. Any of these is a reason to call, whatever the age or condition of the door.

If you suspect a broken spring, stop pressing the opener. The motor will strain against a door it cannot lift, and the stored force in the spring and cables is not something to test with a wrench from the driveway. Leave the door where it is and call (309) 357-3907 during business hours.

Arrive, assess, and agree on a plan

We arrive on time to evaluate the problem, assess your particular needs, and come up with a plan of action. That means looking at the whole door, not just the part that failed. A snapped spring often points to a door that was never balanced right, and a frayed cable usually tells you something about the drum above it.

From there the repair uses replacement parts or new hardware as needed: torsion springs wound to the weight of your door, cables, drums, rollers, hinges and track sections. When the work is done we balance the door by hand at mid-travel and test the opener's auto-reverse, so it leaves working as it should.

When both cars are stuck behind the door

Most calls come at the worst moment, with a vehicle trapped inside and somewhere to be. Angie Kerker Alig described it this way on our website: her husband called in the morning, both vehicles were stranded in the garage, and the crew had the job done within no time at all.

If you send a request through the site, a Door Doctor representative will call you back the same business day. If you need immediate help, call (309) 357-3907. We cover Peoria, East Peoria, Dunlap, Pekin, Washington, Metamora and Germantown Hills, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with weekends by appointment.
